An amazing playing baseball team with five World Series titles, San Francisco Giants also won 20 National League pennants and 6 West Division titles. They are currently based in San Francisco, California and are playing in the National League West Division. The team was founded by John B. Day and Jim Mutrie and they were originally known as the Gothams. Among the team’s popular members include Barry Bonds and Gaylord Perry.

 

They joined in the National League in the year 1883 and it was in 1888 when the team won their first National League pennant. The Giants had defeated the Cleveland Indians during the World Series in 1954. Just before the 1958 season, the Giants were relocated to San Francisco. It was in 1981 when the team became the first National League team to have hired a black manager in the person of Frank Robinson and in the next season, they have decided to acquire Joe Morgan and Reggie Smith. The Giants had successfully won the National League pennant in the year 1989 where they were led by Rick Reuschel and Scott Garrelts. They were also able to defeat Chicago Cubs during the National League Championship Series.

 

During the 2000 season, the team lost to the New York Mets in the division series and in the following year, they were eliminated from playoff contention. They had made up from their seasons in 2002 as they ranked second in the National League West.
