Title holder of nine World Series, Oakland Athletics is also a winner of 15 American League pennants and 14 West Division titles. The famous team is currently based in Oakland, California and they are also known as the A’s. Among the team’s popular players are Rollie Fingers, Eric Chavez, and Frank Thomas.
The team had started playing in the year 1860 during the formation of the Athletic (Club) of Philadelphia. The modern Athletics had originated in the year 1901 being a new franchise in the well known American League. During their early years in the league, they have already established their team as one of the dominating teams in the National
League where they just amazingly won the American League pennant six times. The Athletics had defeated the San Francisco Giants during the World Series in the year 1989 and their victory became a make up game from their previous year’s performance where they were swept off by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
It was in 1992 when the Athletics had declined but had incredibly won the A.L. West Championship but had eventually lost Toronto during the American League Championship Series. During the 2006 season, the team had returned to the game after a two-year absence and had won three challenging games over Minnesota Twins. The Athletics is currently striving to win in their games since they already lost their DH and MVP candidate Frank Thomas who is already a free agent just after the 2006 season.
Oakland Athletics’ team pride photo mints, framed dynasty, as well as Frank Thomas’ signed 2005 World Series baseball are among his items to collect. The team’s name is often mistaken by people as Okland Athlitics, Oaklend Atheletics, Ukland Atthletics, Oakeland Athelettics, Oekland Ateltthics, and Oakkland Athletices.
