In their 46 years in Major League Baseball, The New York Mets or simply the “Amazin’ Mets” had achieved two World Series Championships. The Mets are playing in the Eastern Division of the National League. Established in 1961, the Mets are based in Flushing in the New York City Borough of Queens.
The Mets’ first on-field play in 1962 was rather not a good start for the team who lost nine games leading to a 40-120 record. Changes on the team’s performance slowly emerged during the late ‘60s when new dedicated set of players joined the team. Tom Seaver, Jerry Grote, Bud Harrelson, Jerry Koosman, Cleone Jones and Tommie Aggie are the new lineup of players who had strong performances. With little chances of winning against the Baltimore Orioles at the 1969 World Series, the Mets managed to give them just five runs until the next four games letting them win that year’s World Series.
The Mets’ organization established a cable network in 2005 known as Sports Net New York with the plan to improve the team’s performance. They finished the 2006 season with a good record in the National League, and they were ahead of the Phillies by 12 games. The Amazon’ Mets began a good start in 2007 having won 3 consecutive games against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Own some of the Mets’ sports stuff such as their autographed baseballs, 1986 signed home plate and the team’s Tom Glavine autographed MLB baseball. The Mets’ name is often misspelled as New York Meets, New York Mits, New York Meths, New York Meats, New York Nets and New York Miths.
