Renowned winner of six Word Series titles, Los Angeles Dodgers has also won 21 National League pennants, 9 West Division titles and 2 wild card berths. Founded in 1883, the Dodgers originated in Brooklyn, New York and are currently based in Los Angeles, California. The team had moved to Los Angeles just before the 1958 season. They are now playing in the West Division in the National League of the Major Baseball League. Among the team’s popular players who are established as some of the most outstanding players in the major league are Sandy Koufax, Russell Martin and Prince Fielder.

The team became the first of only three major league sports teams and is the only major league baseball team to have successfully won championships in various leagues in successive years. When several Hall of Famers were sold to Brooklyn, they had won pennants in the years 1899 and 1900. The Dodgers had amazingly won pennants in the years 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952 and 1953 as they were led by Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson, and Gil Hodges. In the 1980s, the key player of the team was Fernando Valenzuela who became the only pitcher to have been hailed as the Rookie of the Year and winner of the Cy Young Award.

Just at the end of the 2006 season, the Dodgers had incredibly swept the San Francisco Giants during the last series of that season with an 88-74 record. During the National League Division Series in the year 2006, they were defeated by the New York Mets but they are expected to improve more on their playing skills in the 2007 season.

Dodgers’ memorable sports items such as their Cut stone baseball, Riddell mini batting helmet and the Los Angeles Dodgers heritage photo mint can be anyone’s collectibles. The team’s name is often misspelled as Los Angeles Dadgers, Lus Angiles Dodggers, Lose Angelles Dodgers, Loss Angeleis Dogers, and Los Angeles Didgers.
