One of the five teams in the Central Division of the American League, Kansas City Royals had already won one World Series title in 1985, two American League pennants and six West Division titles. The team was established in 1969 and is currently based in Kansas City, Missouri. They had their inaugural game on April 8, 1969 where they had successfully defeated the Minnesota Twins with a 4-3 record and 12 innings.
The team had their first winning season in the year 1971 and they were managed by bob Lemon. In the next four years, the Royals had dominated the American League Western Division where they won three successive division championships. In 1980, the Royals were able to defeat the New York Yankees. They had won their fifth division championship in 1984 where they were led by George Brett but were unfortunately defeated by the Tigers during the American League Championship Series. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, the team had acquired Bo Jackson, Tom Gordon, and Kevin Seitzer and they had helped the team in winning more games.
However, year 2000 was not a good year for the Royals where they lost 100 games for the first time in their franchise history. They went through another 100-loss season in 2006 and became the eleventh team in the major league history to lose 100 games in three consecutive seasons.
Royals visitors’ dugout logo from 2005 season at Yankee Stadium, banner, dirt coin, and heritage photo mint can be collected by fans. The team’s name is commonly mistaken as the Kanses City Royales, Kanssas City Royels, Kannsas City Ruyals, Kanesas City Rouyals, Kannsis City Royalls, and Kanscas City Royyals.
