Playing in the Western Division of the National League, Colorado Rockies is a Major League Baseball team which is currently based in Denver, Colorado. The team is also called as The Rocks and they are named after the Rocky Mountains that pass through Colorado. The Rockies had joined the National League in the year 1993 and had accomplished only one wild card berth and that was made possible by the team in 1995. one of the highly recognized players in the team is Todd Helton.
The Rockies’ first selection during their expansion draft was David Nied who was a strong pitcher who came from the Atlanta Braves organization. Their first game was played on April 5, 1993 against the New York Mets which was held at Shea Stadium. The team had really struggled during their first season in the league but had eventually improved on their playing career as years pass by. It was on April 17, 1994 when they successfully won their game against Montreal with a 6-5 record and that was then the first time of the team to have a winning record.
Just before the 1995 season, the team had acquired Larry Walker who was a free agent and he had helped the team in gaining more wins than their previous games. The Colorado Rockies had started the 2006 season well and they had garnered a 44-43 record during the first half of the season. In the 2007 season, the Rockies had accomplished a 23-27 record and are expected to do better in their upcoming games.
