Born in Concord, Massachusetts on the 25th of March, 1966 is Thomas Michael “Tom” Glavine. He is an American Major League Baseball starting pitcher for the New York Mets. He was raised in Billerica, Massachusetts; he attended Billerica Memorial High School.
Glavine was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1984 NHL amateur draft, and the Atlanta Braves Major League Baseball organization in the 2nd round of the 1984 amateur baseball draft. He made his Major League debut on August 17, 1987. In 1991, he won 20 games and posted a 2.55 ERA. He earned his first National League Cy Young Award. He won a championship in 1995 with the Braves, and also went to four other World Series with the Braves, in 1991, 1992, 1996 and 1999.
In 2003, Glavine signed a four-year, $42.5 million deal with the New York Mets. He failed to win 10 games, also posting his firs losing record in that span, 9-14. He finished the 2005 season with a 13-14 and a 3.53 ERA. The Mets won the National League Eastern Division during the 2006 season. He resigned with the Mets for the 2007 season. As of June 28, 2007, he has a record of 7-5 with a 4.12 ERA.
