He was an American baseball player that was born in Spanivaw , Oklahoma on October 20, 1931. Mickey Mantle who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in the 1974 season played the entire 18-year of his career with the New York Yankees.
Mantle, who won 3 American League Most Valuable Player award had also played with 16 All-Star teams. In his entire professional career, Mantle was able to play on 12 pennant winners and 7 World Championship clubs. His 18 runs, 40 RBIs, 42 runs, 43 walks and 26 extra-base hits and 123 total bases that were recorded made him to hold the records for most World Series records.
His professional career started when he played as a shortstop in the minor leagues. He then arrived and played with the Yankees on April 17, 1951. Mantle became the team’s regular right fielder. He celebrated his major league debut on April 17, 1951. When he gets to play in the major league, Mantle was able to hit some of the longest home runs. Five years after that event, he then won the Hickok Belt. He was then named as a top professional athlete of the year. On March 1, 1969, Mantle announced his retirement.
