A retired American baseball player who was tagged as “Hammer”, “Hammerin’ Hank” and “Bad Henry”, Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron was born on February 5, 1934 in Mobile, Alabama. He began his Major League Baseball career in 1954 after playing with the Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro American League. He has played 21 seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers and had accomplished a remarkable MLB record for most career home runs.
Aaron’s one World Series victory during his entire career as a player came when he won the National League Most Valuable Player Award and three Rawlings Gold Glove Awards with his team Milwaukee Braves as the World Series champion. He also won the Triple Crown in 1963, led the league with 44 home runs and 130 RBIs and landed third in the batting average.
Hank was the first player to gain 3,000 career strikes and 500 career home runs, and established 30+ home runs in the National League. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame and then named the Braves’ vice president and director of player development making him one of the first minorities in Major League Baseball upper-level management.
