One of the major contributors of Yankee’s success since 1996, Derek Sanderson Jeter was born in Pequannock Township, New Jersey on June 26, 1974. He is presently the New York Yankees Captain. Since 1993 up to 2006, Jeter has achieved 24 awards and an All-Star shortstop for eight years.
During his high school years, Derek Jeter showed outstanding performance that he was able to acquire various awards including the high school Player of the Year award by Gatorade and USA Today. When he reached 20 years old he was still able to receive awards such as American League Rookie of the Year Award, the All-Star Game MVP Award, the World Series MVP Award, a Silver Slugger Award and three Gold Glove Awards.
Up to this date Jeter is still showing his excellent skill which made him the baseball history’s 2nd placer in terms of largest contract. He is also the first player who won the All-Star MVP award and the World Series MVP award in the year 2000. In the following year, he still continues to prove his passion in baseball that during the World Series in 2001, he was able to hit the first November home run in the MBL. With his remarkable achievements, in 2005 he was regarded as the “most marketable player in baseball”.
