An American Major League Baseball player and a right-handed pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, Curtis Montague Schilling was born on November 14, 1966 in Anchorage, Alaska. He started his professional career with the Boston but was traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 1988. He debuted his major league career with the Orioles after spending one year with the Houston Astros and eight seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Curt was one of the means in leading the Phillies’ to the National League Championship Series over the two-time defending National League champion Atlanta Braves. He earned the 1993 NLCS Most Valuable Player Award after hitting a 1.69 ERA and 19 strikeouts.
Schilling is considered a “big-game” pitcher after winning the two World Series championships; the first was in 2001 with the Arizona Diamondbacks and with the Boston Red Sox in 2004 against the New York Yankees in the ALCS. He had also earned his grand 200th career in becoming the 104th major league pitcher to finish the feat.
